Dopeycrats wooing Martian voters

January 28, 2004 -- In a surprise move, Dopeycrat headquarters released this photograph showing candidate da Moose campaigning for votes on the red planet.  Spokesbasset Myrtle Gilbert appeared triumphant, proclaiming, "Da Moose seized the Opportunity to land on Mars and he's making the most of it."  

NASA officials refused to speak to reporters on the record.  However one engineer acknowledged that the Spirit's garbled communications last week WERE rather dopey, and could have been part of a complicated Dopeycrat plot to garner campaign publicity.

Spokesbasset Gilbert explained the  Dopeycrat campaign strategy for seeking votes on the uninhabited planet by stating, "The other candidates tout their international experience, but OUR candidate now has interplanetary experience.  No one else can claim that."

Asked about how da Moose expected to return back to earth, Gilbert was startled.  She mumbled to herself, "Whoops.  That's a good question."  She refused to say anything further.

Since the Dopeycrat party often seems to be from another planet, nobody was really all that surprised at this latest development.
