Gore's Top Advisers Divided over Strategy

Will chip clip attract undecided Dopey voters?

October 13, 2000Who's Dopey now?!? -- Following the surprisingly positive response to Dopeycrat VP Candidate Moose's appearance at Wednesday's Presidential Debate, Democratic candidate Al Gore was campaigning today in Iowa sporting his own chartreuse green chip clip.  Frequently accused of altering his image for political gain, Gore's latest move was seen by many political pundits as feckless pandering to the Dopeycrat base.

Behind the scenes, Democratic advisers are engaged in vigorous arguments over the use of the prop.  Faced with recent slippage in the polls, Gore's media consultants are evidently desperate to try almost any gimmick to improve his standing with undecided voters.  On the other hand, political strategists hold that the Vice President should continue to emphasize issues instead, feeling that appeals to the Dopey consituency are futile.  One Democratic adviser cited a nationwide study concluding that Dopey voters are significantly less likely to find their polling place on Election Day.

Dopeycrat Spokesbasset Myrtle Gilbert, still bungee jumping in Nepal, was unavailable for comment.  Other Dopeycrat campaign advisers were incapable of making a statement.
